Title: | Probate Collection; bond and documents for Thomas Jennings, yeoman |
Place name: | St Margarets |
Date: | 1727 |
Description:
1. Bond dated
Bounden: Eliza Jennings of St Margarets, widow and William Price of Llanigon, co Brecon, gent and William Cox[?] , of the same, yeoman in the sum of £1000.
2. Inventory: [plus copy] dated
Observations:
Documents include a coversheet; 4 sheets in all.
Inventory includes the words 'few books' and the word few appears elsewhere as 'few wool', clearly meaning 'a small amount of'. The appraisers, here, have used the term 'sperate' (from Latin hopeful), rather than the more usual 'specialty' in contrast to 'desperate'. in relation to debts. Desperate debts were unsecured and hence more difficult to call in.
