1837 Nov 27. Special customary court, held at Castle of Longtown, manor of Ewyas Lacy, before Baker Gabb, gent., steward and George Anthony and David Nicholls, homagers.

Recites session of special customary court on 15 Sept 1823 wherein
(1) Rt Hon. Henry, Earl of Abergavenny granted to
(2) Henry Morgan of township of Newton, par. Clodock, co Hereford, gent., a messuage, stable, beasthouse, barn, outbuildings and 15 pieces of arable, meadow and pasture land, of 49a.2r.14p., in township of Newton and the manor of Ewyas Lacy (boundaries given), for the lives of (2), John Williams, aged about 8, the son of William Williams of township of Newton, farmer, by Ann, his wife and John Jones, aged about 6, the son of Samuel Jones of par. Bacton, farmer, by Sarah, his wife. Rent 5s 0d, with 5s 0d as a heriot and with suit of court.

Recites also the death of (2) on 3 Sept 1834, a bachelor and intestate, whereon the above premises descended to his brother Thomas Morgan, late of township of Newton as customary heir, who duly took possession; the said Thomas dying 18 May 1836, a bachelor and intestate, leaving 3 sisters, viz. Mary Prosser, wife of David Prosser of township of Llanveynoe, par Clodock, yeoman, Hannah, wife of Richard Williams of township of Newton, yeoman and Elizabeth, wife of Edward Lewis Lillwall of par Much Dewchurch, co Hereford, farmer, they being co-heiresses of the said Henry and Thomas Morgan for the lives of the said John Williams and John Jones.

To the court came Mary Prosser, asking to be admitted tenant to one-third of the above property and being granted seisin for the lives of the said John Williams and John Jones and for the rents, heriots and services due, whereupon the said David Prosser and Mary, his wife, did surrender the said premises that (1) might grant the premises to the said Richard Williams for the natural lives of the said John Williams and John Jones, upon trust for such persons as appointed by David Prosser and Mary, his wife, paying the profits to the said Mary Prosser; upon the death of the first of the said David Prosser and Mary, his wife, the premises to be held in trust for the survivor; upon the death of the second of them, the premises to be held in trust on the direction of the said Mary Prosser. Richard Williams being granted seisin of the one-third part for the lives above-mentioned, at a rent of 1s 8d, with 5s 0d as a heriot and with suit of court.

1838 Sept 1. Special customary court, held at Longtown Castle, manor of Ewyas Lacy, before Baker Gabb, gent., steward and George Anthony and David Nicholls, homagers.

Recital: see 182.6. Richard Williams and Hannah, his wife have agreed with David Prosser to sell to him their one-third share of the property in 182.6 at the price of £120.

To the court came David Prosser and Richard Williams and Hannah, his wife. The latter surrendered their one-third share, David Prosser being granted seisin, to hold for the lives of John Williams and John Jones at the accustomed rent and services.

To the court came Hannah Williams, asking to be admitted tenant to her one-third share in a property in Newton township (see 182.6) and being granted seisin, for the lives of John Williams and John Jones, at the accustomed rent and services. Richard Williams and Hannah, his wife surrendered the one-third part that it might be regranted to David Prosser of Newton, yeoman, upon trust for such person(s) as Richard and Hannah Williams might appoint; David Prosser being granted seisin for the said lives, rendering 1s 8d pa rent, with 5s 0d as a heriot and with suit of court.
