Description:

The Log books and registers that were maintained at the Infant and Senior schools of Newton are now deposited at the Hereford Record Office. The catalogue entry being AA90/1-5. The logbooks comprise 4 volumes those for 1893-1900, 1908-1919, 1919-149 and 1949-1961. There is also a separate Admissions register. There are some access restrictions regarding the later items.

 

Joan Davies who was a one time pupil of the school has compiled the following extracts from the archives.

From the 1891 census the population of Newton is given as 223 persons from 55 homesteads. But the children attending the school would also have come from the surrounding parishes
