Description:
Copy of codicil dated 2 December 1589 to the will of Blanche Parry.
She has appointed £500 for the building of an Almshouse in Backton [Bacton] and for producing £10 p.a. As she cannot provide land in Backton for the building she appoints that her executors purchase so much land as shall yield 7 score bushels of corn (wheat and rye) to be distributed yearly among the poor people of Backton and Newton. The Dean and Chapter of Hereford to have the overseeing of the distribution thereof.
