Title: | Audio Archive: Recollections of Wartime Newton |
Place name: | Newton St Margarets |
Date: | 1940 - 1958 |
Description:
Audio Archive clip by Eddie Thomas. The author’s description is as follows:
I was born in Croydon Feb 1940 and immediately evacuated with my German mother to a small farm called Bush-llwn in Bacton, owned by my aunt. Shortly after we moved to a rented wooden annex in The Villa, Newton. In 1944 I attended the Methodist Sunday School and then Newton School. My recollections also include the German prisoners of war working in Newton around that time, and family life in Bacton where from 1948 we regularly returned for summer holidays until my aunt died in about 1958.
