Sir/
Mr Harris is very particularly engaged & will be for the week; he therefore requests me to write. The cause [case?] came on this morning & I am happy to state that a verdict was given in your favour for one of the cottages & land adjoining (vizt. that occupied by James Parry) The defendants produced a lease of the other cottage & land dated 17 March 1743 – granted by John Delahay to Blanche & Elizabeth Watkins for 99 years from 25 March, 1743 at 11s rent. – They brought evidence to prove that it was the cottage occupied by John Hughes (the undertenant of Hughes the claimant) – and the court was of the opinion that it was sufficient proof that such cottage was still under lease; - the term expires 25 March 1842, being 19 years to come. – The lease described it as a cottage barn & land adjoining Urish Hay common. As we succeeded for the other cottage, it sub[ject?] Hughes to the payment of your costs. –
I am sir (very respectfully)
your very obedient servant
Edward Smith
