Title:

Photograph of Clodock Mill

Place name:

Clodock

Date:

1998

Description:

Photograph of the Mill building with the exterior breastshot waterwheel on the left hand wall. The wheel is severely decayed and inoperable, with the buckets rusted through. The wooden spokes and axle tree are also in poor condition, though the cast iron wheel rims appear sound. The penstock control levers together with the rack and pinion are still in place, though the sluice timbers are in a bad state. In addition, the leat is blocked and the weir (adjacent to Clodock Church) is breached, so there is no usable water supply to the mill at present.

Observations:

The waterwheel spokes were replaced in 2005, and a programme of further restoration is planned.
