| | Ewyas Lacy is home to a large and diverse population of plants and wild creatures, both land based and aquatic. This reflects the landscape and geology of the area, where the combination of mountains, valleys and watercourses provides a rich variety of environmental niches for wildlife. Extensive areas of woodland, uncultivated commons and ancient hedgerows have also served - along with low human population density - to preserve a reasonable balance between man and nature over the centuries.
