When Mrs Margaret Hunter vacated Michaelchurch Court in November 1968 to live in Portugal, she may have left most of her furniture and effects behind but not her pets. Her decision to take 80 Maltese terriers and 10 cats with her in a specially chartered aircraft excited comment in the national as well as the local press, and some of the resulting articles are reproduced below.
