Building 14 north side; 2004. The building was constructed by German prisoners of war in 1946, and the poorly spelt ‘Her von Schnel’ inscription on the concrete lintel is perhaps a comment on their view of the farmer for whom they were working – a rough translation might be ‘Mr Go Faster’

Building 14; 2004.  The German workers were not the only ones leaving an inscription – this window lintel bears the name of V Lloyd, Nov. 11th 1946
