In 1737 Sir Hungerford Hoskyns of Harewood, Herefordshire, who had inherited a holding surrendered it by his attorney and it was granted to Elizabeth Hannah Bridgett Smyth daughter of James Smyth of Wilbrooke, Peterchurch.

James Spencer was solicitor of Hay on Wye who was involved in many local transactions. He got into financial difficulties and died in Hereford Goal
