Press Cutting: A bungled attempt at forgery
Longtown, Trewyn, Cwmyoy
A charge of Forgery arose when William Watkins and his daughter Martha Watkins both of Pentilloo Cottage, Longtown together with a Thomas Davies (engaged to be married to Martha) and two others, James Davies and Henry Smith attempted to defraud David Pritchard of property he had inherited from another William Watkins of Trewyn. Unfortunately the paper used in the forged document had a watermark date six years later than its supposed creation date and also bore a later stamp.
