Order for a removal from Longtown to Newton, January 1847
Ann Landon, widow, aged 78

The examination of Ann Landon at present residing in the Township of Longtown

...who upon her oath saith...I am the widow of John Landon late of the Township of Newton...labourer who died about thirty years ago. Since his decease I have done no act to gain any parochial settlement in my own right. I have only resided three successive years in the said Township of Longtown during the last of which I have received one shilling and sixpence per week  [?] relief from Mr John Price Relieving Officer of the Dore Union. [The mark of Ann Landon]

The Deposition of John Price... For one whole year next preceeding the first day of January last I afforded the above named Ann Landon parochial relief amounting to one shilling and six pence per week in money. I charged such relief to the account of the Overseers of the poor of the said Township of Newton, the Overseers of the poor of the said Township of Newton knew that I was giving her such relief in money at their cost and that she was at that time residing in the said Township of Longtown.

Ann Landon Longtown to Newton...The within named Pauper was delivered to Edward Price Overseer of Newton on 11th day of March 1847 by me Jas Parry.

Observations:

In the 1841 census for Longtown, an Ann Landon aged 65 was living in Longtown in the household of Thomas Gwillim, 55, agricultural labourer and Elizabeth Gwillim, 55.
